Florida Goldbacks – Here’s What We Know So Far

On October 17th, Goldback, Inc. confirmed that Florida Goldbacks will be released sometime in 2025. The announcement comes on the heels of over a year of speculation from investors about which state will be featured on the next Goldback release. Goldbacks, a family of complementary currencies made using real gold bullion, are a unique and exciting way for investors to collect gold. The release of Florida Goldbacks makes Florida the sixth state to be represented on the popular gold notes.

Starting in 2025, investors will be able to choose from six Goldback collections, each focused on a different U.S. state:

  • Florida Goldbacks | On Pre-Sale Starting 12/4/2024/
  • South Dakota | Released in 2023.
  • Wyoming | Released in 2022.
  • New Hampshire | Released in 2021.
  • Nevada | Released in 2020.
  • Utah | Released in 2019.

Like all other Goldback series, each Florida Goldback will likely celebrate another key virtue as personified by a feminine figure. This tradition began with the first Goldback collection, the Utah series, which was released in 2019. Since then, Goldback, Inc. has expanded to offer Goldback series for Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Florida Goldbacks will become available for pre-sale starting on December 4th, 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions About Florida Goldbacks

Below, we’ve collected some common questions we think consumers might have about the upcoming series of Florida Goldbacks. This page will be updated as more information becomes available, so be sure to check back later to hear the latest Goldback news!

What Are Florida Goldbacks?

Florida Goldbacks is the newest upcoming release of Goldbacks, a family of complementary currencies made with actual gold. A single Goldback contains 1/1000 oz of genuine gold bullion. The most valuable Goldback is the 50 Goldback note, which is minted using 1/20 oz of pure gold. Each Goldback series focuses on a U.S. state, using imagery and icons from that state while celebrating key virtues.

Florida is the sixth state to be commemorated on a Goldback series.

Here’s how much gold is in each Goldback denomination.

The Florida Goldbacks collection will feature two new denominations: the 1/2 and the 100. The 100 Florida Goldback is the largest denomination of Goldback ever produced and will include 1/10 troy oz of actual gold bullion. The 1/2 Florida Goldback, on the other hand, will be minted with 1/2000th troy oz of gold.

What do Florida Goldbacks Look Like?

Official images for the Florida Goldbacks series haven’t been released, but we did get a sneak peak this month. Take a look at the Florida 1 Goldback gold note, pictured below:

100 Florida Goldback Aurum Gold Note
The new Florida 100 Goldback is the first 100 denomination Goldback in the series.

This note features a gorgeous woman in a flowing dress on a beach. She’s submerged halfway in ocean water as sea creatures float around her feet. We don’t know what the other Florida Goldbacks will look like, at least not yet. If this note is any indication, however, investors are in for an absolute treat.

How Much Will Florida Goldbacks Be Worth?

Goldback, Inc., the company behind Goldbacks, maintains a general “exchange rate” used to determine the approximate value of a single Goldback. Generally, we expect the new Florida Goldbacks to sell for only a little bit more than notes from the other five Goldback collections. Because of high demand, Florida Goldbacks may be the most valuable – at least until more notes are introduced to the market.

The value of a Goldback changes based on the current spot price of gold. When gold becomes more valuable, the value of a single Goldback will increase as well. Goldbacks are also sold at a premium over spot price. For the most part, Goldbacks are sold at higher premiums than other products of a similar size. This makes sense, given the intricate artwork and high production cost associated with these unique collectible products.

The 1/2 Florida Goldback is the smallest Goldback ever produced and features 1/2000th troy oz of real gold.

When Will Florida Goldbacks Go On Sale?

According to Goldback, Inc., the new Florida Goldback series will be released sometime in 2025. We project that Florida Goldbacks will probably hit shelves sometime in the first three months of 2025, giving investors plenty of time to build their collections throughout the year!

We’ll update this page with more information on a precise release timeline for the Florida Goldbacks as this info becomes available.

Where Can Florida Goldbacks Be Purchased?

You can buy the new Florida Goldbacks at most online bullion retailers. Hero Bullion is a popular Goldback distributor; we offer competitive prices on gold notes from all five Goldback series and will sell Florida Goldbacks as soon as they become available.

Where Can You Spend Florida Goldbacks?

As an alternative currency, Goldbacks can be spent at participating businesses all over the United States. Goldback, Inc. tracks businesses that accept Goldbacks on the company’s website. Because Florida Goldbacks haven’t yet been officially released, no businesses currently accept the currency as payment for goods or services.

Because of the popularity of precious metals in Florida, we anticipate that Florida Goldbacks will be a usable alternative currency at many Florida businesses starting in 2025.
