Goldback, Inc. Announces New Goldback Denomination
This week, Goldback, Inc. announced that a new denomination of Goldbacks may be hitting shelves sometime in 2026. The 1/4 Goldback will be the smallest note ever produced in the Goldback series. According to the announcement, the first 1/4 Goldback will be introduced with the Idaho collection, which is expected to release in March 2026. Following the release of the Idaho 1/4 Goldback, Goldback, Inc. plans to introduce 1/4 Goldbacks for other collections, including Florida, Oklahoma, and Arizona at some point this year.
The announcement comes as gold prices continue to climb. The spot price of gold set a fresh all-time high this week, crossing $5,400 per ounce for the first time ever. The 1/4 Goldback will contain only 1/4000th oz of real gold, making it the most affordable way to spend gold available to modern consumers. Jeremy Cordon, CEO of Goldback, Inc., said that the new denomination is intended to allow users to conduct smaller and more accurate transactions using the alternative gold currency.
The 1/4 Goldback gives users greater flexibility, allowing for more accurate change and smaller transactions.
Goldback, Inc. said in the official announcement that 1/4 Goldbacks will be considerably smaller than any Goldback currently in circulation. The upcoming 1/4 Goldback will be approximately the size of a standard business card, according to the Goldback, Inc. statement. Given the rising price of gold, the 1/4 Goldback is slated to be a welcome addition to the Goldback family of alternative, voluntary currencies made with actual gold.
With the new Goldback denomination also comes a new look for the Goldback project. Goldback, Inc. revamped the Goldback logo, the new version of which will appear on Goldbacks moving forward. Idaho will be the 9th Goldback series to become available to investors. Goldback, Inc. intends to release the new Goldback collection, along with the all-new 1/4 Goldback denomination, in March of 2026. Idaho Goldbacks will be available at most authorized Goldback retailers, and each note is fungible and can be traded between collectors for other notes in the larger collection.
The 1/4 Goldback represents the latest iteration of the Goldback project’s attempts to make using gold for commerce feasible for consumers. The end of the gold standard in the United States, paired with the rising cost of gold per troy ounce, means that most transactions cannot be conducted with traditional gold products, such as gold coins or bars. A 1/2 Goldback, however, only contains 1/2000 oz of actual gold, making it a useful tool for small transactions conducted with real gold. The 1/4 Goldback helps further cement Goldbacks as a viable alternative currency used among participating businesses.
