The Royal Canadian Mint is a Canadian Crown corporation, founded in 1908, and it is known for producing gold and silver at .9999 fineness. A national mint’s hallmark is the name on this bar, rather than a private refiner’s.
What Is on the Bar
The face is anchored by the mint’s circular device, the maple leaf logo inside a dotted border, with ROYAL CANADIAN MINT and MONNAIE ROYALE CANADIENNE lettered around it. Below it the bar reads 100 oz t, with a small maple leaf on either side of 999.9, then FINE SILVER over ARGENT PUR in the mint’s two languages. A serial number sits in a recessed panel near the base. The reverse is left blank, so the front carries everything.
More Than One Style
Royal Canadian Mint 100 oz bars have been made in more than one finish and layout over the years, and dealers describe pressed and cast versions of the bar. The year, the serial number and the exact finish come from the mint’s production and cannot be requested, and the bar you receive will not match the photographs exactly. The reverse stays blank on every version. Style varies by year, and the .9999 fineness does not.

What does the extra nine in .9999 mean?
It means the bar is 99.99% pure silver instead of 99.9%. That is about a tenth of a percent more silver in the same hundred ounces. Four nines, not three, and the mint stamps it on the face as 999.9.
Does the bar have a serial number?
Yes. Every Royal Canadian Mint 100 oz bar carries a unique serial number on the front. The number is assigned by the mint and cannot be requested. Serialized by the mint, on every bar.
Is the Royal Canadian Mint 100 oz bar IRA eligible?
Yes. Our Specifications tab and Kitco both list it as IRA eligible. IRA eligible, so it can go in a qualifying precious metals IRA.
How big and heavy is it?
It measures roughly 184 mm by 81 mm and about 20 mm thick, and it holds 3,110.35 grams of silver, which is just under seven pounds. Just under seven pounds, so store it somewhere that can take the weight.
How does a bar this size ship?
It ships insured, and every order of $500 or more needs a signature on delivery. Delivery to a PO Box is sometimes not possible because of size, weight or value limits. Someone must sign, so plan for the delivery day.

It’s hard to beat at this price. Do recognize the listing states “Bars may arrive in Used condition”. There were a few scratches around the sides, but that was fine by me. 100oz is 100oz, but others may be more discriminate.
