Goldback, Inc. Announces 2026 Silverback Note Release

 

What is a Silverback Note?

Goldback, Inc., the company behind the Goldback line of voluntary currency notes made with real gold, recently announced a new series of Silverbacks scheduled to hit shelves this month. The series officially went on pre-sale starting on January 8th, 2025. This news should be exciting for fans of the fractional silver note series, which has enjoyed limited runs and ceased production in 2022. The release comes on the heels of another important Goldback-related announcement, as the company plans to release a new series of Colorado Goldbacks at some point in 2026.

A Silverback is a collectible gold note made with actual silver. A single Silverback contains 1/1000th oz of actual silver, and Silverbacks tend to carry substantial value among collectors. The last Silverback series was a partnership between Goldback, Inc., and Silver Dragons, a popular YouTube channel that covers precious metals and stacking. The new Silverback series, begins with a Greek mythology-inspired “Hades” note, will start hitting shelves in the next week at your favorite retailers.

After the end of the last limited production run, Silverbacks have become highly popular among collectors, with 2022 Silverbacks selling for large premiums over melt value. Despite growing demand from collectors, Goldback, Inc. believes that the cost of producing silver-backed currency notes makes them an unlikely candidate for the alternative currency status Goldbacks enjoy.

While many people would love to see a spendable silver currency, current production costs make that unrealistic.

In 2026, Silverbacks are still slated to “make a big impact as a collectible,” the company said in its press release about the new product line. They’re not wrong – 2022 “Dragon” Silverbacks are selling for substantial premiums over melt value on the secondary market, and the Silverback remains one of the most-requested products in the collectible precious metals space.

Goldback, Inc. believes that the new release will be a major success for the Goldback project for three main reason:

1. Popularity. According to the company, Silverbacks are the most-requested product by collectors they speak with.
2. Merchant Network Growth Potential. By giving Silverbacks to select businesses who choose to begin accepting Goldbacks in exchange for goods and services, Goldback, Inc., hopes to expand its growing merchant network with the new product line.
3. Collectible Potential. “Silverbacks allow precious metals to exist in spaces where they might not be seen otherwise,” Goldback, Inc. says, making them “a great fit” for alternative retailers like trading card shops and generalist collectible stores.

Unlike previous releases, the next generation of Silverbacks does not appear to be a partnership with a third party. Goldback, Inc. is expected to work with Valaurum, the manufacturer of Goldbacks, to produce the new slate of Silverback notes.

The 2026 Silverback series will begin with the “Hades” 1 Silverback. On this silver note, the Greek God of Death wears a long, white beard and carries Cerberus, his three-headed hound, on a leash. Skulls, fog, and other spooky, underworld-inspired motifs set the scene around the Greek god.

In addition to the standard silver note, Goldback, Inc. is releasing a certified version and an “Elite” 1 Hades Silverback.

The Elite Hades Silverback Silver Note will be limited in mintage to just 50,000 notes worldwide, and each note in this Elite collection will be authenticated and graded by PCGS.

For collectors who enjoy precious metal products, the new Silverback is likely to be a must-buy. If the prior releases in the series are any indication, collectors should expect the new Hades 1 Silverback to be a popular collectible product heading into the new year.
