The Palladium Maple Leaf was the first widely available sovereign palladium bullion coin, introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2005. Each holds one troy ounce of .9995 fine palladium and carries a $50 CAD face value backed by the Canadian government. Production has been sporadic across the years, which is part of the appeal: palladium coins from any mint are far scarcer than their gold and silver counterparts.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 1 troy ounce of 9995 fine palladium
  • Metal: Palladium, brilliant uncirculated
  • Obverse Design: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the 50 DOLLARS denomination
  • Reverse Design: The Canadian sugar maple leaf with purity and weight inscriptions

The obverse carries Susanna Blunt’s uncrowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, wearing a pearl necklace and drop earring. ELIZABETH II arcs across the top of the coin, while 50 DOLLARS and the year of issue sit along the lower rim. The designer’s initials appear below the neckline. The portrait is struck against a clean mirror-bright field with a beaded border running the circumference.

The reverse is the design the Maple Leaf series is known for: a single sugar maple leaf rendered with individually cut veins running from the stem out through each of the eleven points, and a lightly textured surface across the blade that separates it from the smooth field behind. CANADA arcs across the top. 9995 appears twice, flanking the leaf at left and right, with FINE PALLADIUM and 1 OZ PALLADIUM PUR curving along the bottom rim. The strike is shallow but exceptionally crisp, typical of RCM bullion work.

The coin measures 33 mm in diameter with a reeded edge and ships in a protective flip or in original mint tubes for volume orders. Weight and purity are guaranteed by the Royal Canadian Mint. Dates vary depending on current inventory.

Palladium moves on industrial demand rather than investment flows, which makes it a genuine diversifier. Order your Palladium Maple Leaf today.
