The Buffalo 10 oz Poured Silver Bar is poured by hand at our own facility in Texas, one bar at a time, and stamped with a bison drawn by our own Jake Haugen. Each bar holds 10 troy ounces of .999 fine silver. The full-length American bison stands across the face, head down and facing left, with 10 OZT at one end and 999 SILVER above its back. It is sold new and hand finished.

The National Mammal

The American bison has been the national mammal of the United States since 2016, and it is among the heaviest land animals in North America, with wild bulls recorded at up to 1,270 kg, about 2,800 pounds. On the bar, the bison stands in profile with its horns curving up, a heavy shaggy mane over the shoulders and beard, a smoother body behind, and its tail hanging down. Jake Haugen designed it for Hero Bullion, and we pour every bar ourselves.

Every Pour Comes Out Different

Molten silver cools in the mold on its own terms, so no two bars match. The face shows soft ripples and flow marks around the stamp. The back carries no design and is left as it cooled, with pits, small voids, swirls and bright and dull patches, and the edges are rounded rather than machined square. No two bars match, in surface, shape or exactly where the stamp lands.

What to Expect From a Poured Bar

Pits, small craters and the occasional soft spot in the stamp are part of how a poured bar is made, not damage. Depending on how the silver settled, the bison’s fur or horns can come out sharper on one bar than another. The weight and fineness stay the same, at 10 troy ounces of .999 silver. The silver does not vary, even when the surface does.

Is the Buffalo bar poured by Hero Bullion?

Yes. We pour every Buffalo bar by hand at our facility in Texas, and the design is by Jake Haugen of Hero Bullion. Poured and designed in-house, start to finish.

Why does the back of my bar look rough?

The back is the side that cooled open in the mold, so it keeps the pits, swirls and voids from the pour. It is not polished or stamped. Rough is expected on the back of a poured bar.

Will my bar look exactly like the photos?

No. The photos show one bar, and yours will have its own texture, edge shape and stamp depth. Every bar differs, which is part of why folks buy poured silver.

What does OZT mean?

OZT stands for troy ounces, the unit precious metals are weighed in. The 10 above it reads as 10 troy ounces of silver.

Is the bison on the bar the same as the Buffalo nickel?

No. The Buffalo nickel of 1913 to 1938 carried James Earle Fraser’s bison standing on a mound. This bison is an original design by Jake Haugen for Hero Bullion. A different bison, drawn for this bar.
