Wyoming’s Goldback series is grounded in the state’s frontier character — wide landscapes, ranching culture, and a deep sense of place. The 25 denomination introduces Fidelitas, the virtue of loyalty, and the design does something few currency pieces attempt: it builds a narrative around a single, quietly powerful moment. At 1/40 of a troy ounce of 24-karat gold, this is the second-largest denomination in the five-note Wyoming set and one of the more compositionally intimate designs in the entire Goldback catalog.
Key Features:
- Gold Content & Purity: 1/40 troy ounce (0.025 oz) of .999 fine 24K gold
- Format: Aurum — 24-karat gold layered within durable polyester film via vacuum deposition
- Obverse Design: Fidelitas (Loyalty), depicted as a Wyoming ranch girl in simple bridal attire seated on a wooden fence, holding a lit oil lamp in one hand and a cruse of oil in the other; a cattle dog rests at her feet and a cow leans over her shoulder from behind; the log Episcopal Chapel of the Transfiguration and the Grand Teton Mountains in the background; wheat visible in the foreground; inscribed “WYOMING GOLDBACKS,” “Specie Legal Tender Instrument,” “1/40 TROY OUNCE 24K GOLD,” and “FIDELITAS / Faithful to the End”
- Reverse: Mirror negative image of the obverse design, functioning as a built-in security feature
The obverse tells a story rooted in both Wyoming ranch life and the Biblical parable of the ten virgins from the Gospel of Matthew — a figure waiting faithfully, lamp filled and ready, for what she has committed to. Fidelitas sits on a fence rail dressed in unpretentious wedding clothes, a bridal wreath on her head, an oil lamp lit in one hand and a cruse of oil in the other — prepared and patient. A cattle dog lies at her feet, an animal whose loyalty to its work and its people mirrors the virtue being depicted. A cow rests its head on her shoulder from behind, adding to the sense of a life lived in quiet, steady devotion. In the background, the small log Episcopal Chapel of the Transfiguration — built in 1925 and still standing in Grand Teton National Park — frames the scene, its simple structure set against the dramatic rise of the Teton Range. Wheat appears in the foreground, grounding the composition in Wyoming’s agricultural identity. The inscription “Faithful to the End” appears near the base. The 2022 year mark and Goldback GB logo run along the left column alongside the serial number.
The reverse displays the obverse design as a mirrored negative image, a structural characteristic of the Aurum construction that simultaneously functions as a counterfeit deterrent.
Each note arrives sealed in an archival-quality protective sleeve. Wyoming recognizes Goldbacks as a specie legal tender instrument, accepted by participating merchants across the state.
A note this narratively considered stands apart from standard bullion formats. Whether completing the Wyoming series or acquiring it on its own merits, the 25 Goldback is worth owning. Order yours today.
