Argor-Heraeus issues its Lunar New Year bars in limited runs, and the 2025 Year of the Snake edition is among the most visually striking in the series. Struck in Mendrisio, Switzerland to the refinery’s exacting standards, this 1 troy ounce bar combines .9999 fine gold with a deeply engraved snake design and a mintage of just 18,888 bars — a number carrying strong significance in Chinese culture, where 8 is associated with prosperity and good fortune. Each bar ships sealed in its original assay card, numbered from the edition of 18,888.

Key Features:
  • Purity: 999.9 fine gold (24 karat)
  • Weight: 1 troy ounce
  • Mintage: Limited to 18,888 bars
  • Obverse (bar face): Coiled snake rendered in high-relief engraving occupying the full bar surface; individual scales clearly struck across the body; bamboo and foliage in the background field; Chinese character 蛇 in the lower left; dark recessed ground beneath the snake for contrast
  • Reverse (bar back): Circular Argor-Heraeus “AH” stamp at top; “Switzerland / 1 ounce / Fine Gold / 999,9” stacked in clean text; Melter & Assayer mark; unique sequential serial number from the edition of 18,888
  • Assay Card (front): Vivid red card with gold firework burst motifs; Argor-Heraeus logo and branding across the top; white oval window displaying bar obverse
  • Assay Card (back): Weight, fineness, and certified assayer signature of Marsan printed at top; “LIMITED EDITION — YEAR OF THE SNAKE 2025” prominently displayed; snake icon and Swiss cross at bottom; edition serial number in window at base

The bar’s obverse is devoted entirely to the snake. The animal is coiled tightly upon itself, its body layered in overlapping scales that are individually struck with enough clarity to read at a glance. The coiling creates genuine depth — outer loops casting visual shadow over the body beneath. Bamboo stalks and leaves fill the background without competing with the central figure, and the Chinese character for snake anchors the lower portion of the design against a darkened recessed field that sets it apart from the surrounding engraving.

Flip to the reverse and the bar returns to Argor-Heraeus’s standard minted format — the familiar circular AH monogram stamp, origin and purity text, Melter & Assayer certification, and the bar’s individual serial number from the limited run of 18,888. That number appears again on the exterior base of the assay card, allowing verification without breaking the seal.

The assay packaging leans fully into the Lunar New Year aesthetic. The card’s deep red ground is printed with radiating gold firework bursts — a traditional symbol of celebration in Chinese culture — framing the bar window on both faces. The overall presentation makes this as suitable for gifting as it is for a vault.

For investors, this bar delivers one troy ounce of .9999 fine gold from an LBMA-accredited Swiss refiner with a hard ceiling on supply. For collectors, the numbered limited edition and festival-grade packaging set it apart from standard bullion bars. Add one to your cart today.
