The 2020-W Palladium Eagle is the burnished release in a series that has never been common. Struck at West Point in .9995 fine palladium with a $25 face value, it carries a mintage limit of 10,000 coins, the smallest cap the Palladium Eagle program has ever used. Low supply plus a scarce metal makes this one of the few modern U.S. Mint issues that appeals equally to numismatists and metals investors.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 1 troy ounce of .9995 fine palladium
  • Metal: Palladium, burnished uncirculated finish
  • Obverse Design: Winged Liberty in a Phrygian cap, dated 2020 with the W mint mark
  • Reverse Design: A bald eagle alighting on a rocky ledge with an olive branch

The obverse revives Adolph A. Weinman’s Winged Liberty, the profile familiar from the Mercury dime. Liberty faces left in a winged Phrygian cap, her hair gathered in a braided coil at the nape and individual feathers on the wing struck in crisp relief. LIBERTY arcs across the upper field, IN GOD WE TRUST sits at lower left, and 2020 appears at lower right. The W mint mark is centered below the truncation of her neck, with Weinman’s monogram to the right.

The reverse comes from a 1907 Weinman plaque created for the American Institute of Architects. A bald eagle settles onto a rocky outcrop, wings raised and swept back, head turned in profile as it grips an olive branch in one talon. Every wing covert and tail feather is defined. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves overhead, the $25 denomination sits at left, and 1 OZ. Pd .9995 FINE and E PLURIBUS UNUM run along the bottom rim.

The burnished finish comes from tumbling the blanks with a polishing medium before striking, producing a soft matte luster distinct from both proof and standard bullion. Each coin measures 34.04 mm, has a reeded edge, and arrives encapsulated in a U.S. Mint presentation case with the outer box and certificate of authenticity.

Ten thousand coins is a small number for a metal this scarce. Order the 2020-W burnished Palladium Eagle today.
