Goldbacks solve a problem physical gold has always had: buying and spending in amounts small enough to be practical. The 1/4 Utah Goldback contains 1/4000th of a troy ounce of 24K gold sealed inside a flexible polymer note, making it one of the smallest divisions of gold available in any format. The Alpha designation marks this as the newest refresh of the Utah series.
Key Features:
- Purity and Weight: 1/4000th troy ounce of 24K gold
- Metal Type: Gold, vacuum-deposited between polymer layers
- Obverse Design: Justis, the spirit of Justice, holding scales aloft beside a raptor and rock formation
- Reverse Design: Mirrored impression of the front design across a plain gold field
The front features Justis standing in a flowing gown, her right arm raised holding a set of balance scales while her left hand rests on a sword planted point-down at her side. She is blindfolded and looks slightly downward. A bird of prey flies at her upper right, and a tall sandstone hoodoo rises behind her against a desert backdrop. UTAH and Goldback run across the top with Negotiable Instrument below, the 1/4 denomination sits inside a rosette at the upper left, and a serial number runs vertically along the left edge. The base panel reads 1/4000th Troy Ounce 24K Gold, payable in US gold coin to bearer on demand, with ONE FOURTH at the very bottom.
The reverse carries the same artwork in reverse impression across an unprinted gold surface, showing the gold layer itself without ink. Under ultraviolet light, the note reveals a hidden security layer, with the field shifting to violet and the border pattern and denomination text fluorescing. That UV response is one of several anti-counterfeiting features built into every Goldback.
Notes measure about 2.75 by 5 inches and are flexible enough to carry in a wallet without damage.
Real 24K gold in a spendable, giftable form, backed by an established Utah series, makes this an easy entry point. Add the 1/4 Utah Goldback Refresh – Alpha to your cart today.
