This is the ½ oz Gold First Spouse Gold Coin from the US Mint’s First Spouse series. You receive any one of the ½ Gold First Spouse Gold Coin that has been issued so far. The coin you receive depends on stock on hand. The dates on the coin are the dates the spouse served as a First Spouse.

Key features:

  • Made of ½ Oz .9999 fine gold
  • Product of the US Mint
  • Face value of $10 backed by the United States Government
  • Obverse has the image of any First Spouse of a US president that served and is now dead
  • Reverse side has the image relating to a topic that was important to the First Spouse

The US Mint honors the First Ladies (and First Men one day) of the US presidents in the First Spouse Coin series. A coin is made for each spouse of a president in the order that they served. On the other side of the coin is a theme based on what was important to the First Lady during that time. If they did not have a spouse when they served then an image of Lady Liberty that was on the coins of that time period will be on the coin. The other side would then feature a theme that was important to the president.

The obverse of the coin is any one of the First Ladies that was a spouse to a US president when he served. If the president did not have a spouse when he served then a Lady Liberty design that was on the coins of the time will be used for the obverse image. According to the laws governing the US Mint, no coin can be made for a living president. The same goes for the First Spouse as well.

On the reverse side of the coin is a design based on a subject that was important to the First Spouse on the obverse side. If the president was married when he served then the design will be based on what was an important crusade for him.
