Copper rounds are the most affordable way to hold physical metal, and colorized issues give them display value that plain bullion never has. This 5 avoirdupois ounce round pairs the classic Mexican Libertad design with a full-color American flag background across both faces, creating a cross-border tribute piece that works as a gift, a display item, or an entry point for new stackers.
Key Features:
- Purity and Weight: 5 AVDP ounces of pure copper
- Metal Type: Copper, colorized on both sides
- Obverse Design: Winged Victory holding a laurel wreath, set against the Stars and Stripes
- Reverse Design: Mexican eagle and serpent over an American flag field
The obverse presents the Winged Victory figure that has anchored Mexican coinage since the 1920s, standing on a plinth with both wings spread wide, a laurel wreath raised in her right hand and broken chains trailing from her left. Her draped gown falls in deep folds around her legs. The figure is struck in raised copper relief while the American flag fills the field behind her, stars across the upper left and red and white stripes running to the rim. COBRE PURO sits in the left field, with 5 AVDP OUNCE on the right.
The reverse carries the coat of arms of Mexico: an eagle standing on a prickly pear cactus, wings raised, a serpent gripped in its beak and talon, with an oak and laurel wreath curving beneath. The same flag colorization runs behind it, and ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs around the upper rim in raised lettering.
The round is struck in high relief with a broad raised rim on both faces and a reeded edge. Colorization is applied over the struck surface, so the underlying detail stays fully visible through the design. Copper naturally develops patina over time, and light spotting or toning is normal rather than a defect. This is a privately minted round, not legal tender, and carries no face value.
