The Royal Mint makes its Britannia silver bar in just two sizes, 10 oz and 100 oz, and this is the one that fits in a hand. Britannia Watching the Waves

Jody Clark designed Britannia for the Royal Mint’s bar range, and the Mint describes her clutching her trident as she gazes over the waves. On the bar she stands in profile facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet with a tall crest and a spiral scroll on the cheek guard, her hair falling past her shoulders. Her breastplate is scaled, each scale picked out in relief, and her trident rises upright to the top edge. A shield showing part of the Union flag rests at the lower left, and BRITANNIA sits on a panel at its base. Behind her, the entire field is a pattern of rippling lines that reads as open sea.

 

The Royal Mint Side

The back belongs to the Mint. The Royal Mint’s crowned badge sits beside its wordmark, with the weight and purity stacked below in large type: 10 oz, 999, FINE SILVER. The same wave pattern carries over from the front and ends in a row of cresting waves along the bottom edge, so the two faces read as one design.

 

Three Nines, Not Four

This bar is 999 fine, not the 9999 some government mints strike their silver to. For a precious metals IRA, silver has to be at least .999 fine, so it meets the minimum exactly, with nothing to spare and nothing missing.
