The Radial Buffalo 1 oz Silver Round is a celebration of one of the most popular coins in collecting-the Buffalo Nickel. This beautiful coin is made from .999 fine silver and the Buffalo design is embellished with radial lines throughout the coin. The effect is a kind of starburst feel but the radial lines serve another purpose. They act as an anti counterfeiting measure as well protecting the value of the coin.

The obverse features the James Earle Fraser designed image of a Native American man.  Fraser was commissioned to capture the dignity and beauty of the American West. This design is a composite of three different native Americans who sat as models for Fraser. This design first appeared on the ‘Buffalo Nickel’ in 1913 and ran until 1938 and is a very popular design amongst collectors. In the background are radial lines that flow out from behind the man’s picture. These radial lines make the coin very hard to duplicate by counterfeiters. Above the image is ‘LIBERTY’. 

 

On the reverse side is a depiction of Black Diamond, a 1550 lb buffalo that once lived at the Central Park zoo. Radial lines flow out from behind it. Above the buffalo is ‘ONE TROY OUNCE’ and below is ‘.999 fine silver.
