Both faces revive James Earle Fraser’s celebrated 1913 Buffalo nickel. The obverse presents his composite portrait of a Native American chief in right-facing profile, hair gathered with feathers at the crown, every strand and facial contour sharpened by the proof strike. LIBERTY sits at the upper right, with the date and the W mintmark below the neckline.
The reverse carries the bison collectors know as Black Diamond, standing four-square on a raised prairie mound. The animal’s shaggy hump, beard, and horn are frosted against the mirrored background, ringed by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the denomination $50 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD.
Introduced in 2006 as America’s first 24-karat gold coin, the Buffalo answered global demand for pure gold with a thoroughly American design. Proof versions are struck multiple times on polished planchets at West Point, and the accompanying certificate of authenticity documents each coin’s specifications. Dates in this listing are of our choice, with all coins in original government packaging.
Pure gold, a century-old design, and complete mint presentation make the Proof Gold Buffalo a cornerstone piece. Order yours with box and COA today.
