The Peace Dollar ran from 1921 to 1935 and stands as the last silver dollar struck for general U.S. circulation. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, it was issued in the aftermath of World War I as a deliberate expression of postwar optimism — and its imagery reflects that intention directly. These coins contain .7734 troy oz of pure silver in a 90% silver alloy and carry the kind of age and history that modern bullion simply cannot replicate.

Key Features:

  • Silver content: .7734 troy oz of pure silver (26.73 grams total, 90% silver)
  • Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper
  • Obverse: Left-facing portrait of Liberty with radiate crown; inscribed Liberty, In God We Trust, and year of issue
  • Reverse: Bald eagle perched on a rock clutching an olive branch, against radiating lines; inscribed United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, One Dollar, and Peace
  • Condition: About Uncirculated (AU) — light wear on high points, strong underlying detail and luster

The obverse carries de Francisci’s Liberty in left-facing profile — a portrait modeled after his wife Teresa — wearing a radiate crown with individual rays extending sharply from her head. The hair flows naturally behind the crown, and the facial features retain the soft, classical quality the design is known for. In AU condition, the high points of the cheek and hair show the first traces of circulation wear, but the underlying strike and detail remain strong throughout.

The reverse presents a perched bald eagle on a rocky outcrop, head turned to the right, wings folded at rest. An olive branch sits in the eagle’s talons — a deliberate peace symbol that gives the coin its name. Behind the eagle, bold rays of light radiate outward across the field in a sunburst composition. Peace is inscribed at the base of the rock, and One Dollar and United States of America arc around the upper rim with E Pluribus Unum beneath. AU examples retain clear feather and ray detail, with only the topmost relief showing light softness from circulation.

Year of issue is random and will vary with available inventory. Dates range across the series run of 1921–1935, with design and mint mark varying accordingly.
