One Gram of Gold, Sealed and Verifiable
This is the smallest common gold bar: one gram of .9999 fine gold, about 0.03 of a troy ounce, from PAMP Suisse in Switzerland. It measures 14.7 by 8.9 mm, smaller than a fingernail, and ships sealed in a CertiPAMP assay card with a serial number on both the bar and the card.
Lady Fortuna
The face carries PAMP’s Lady Fortuna, the Roman goddess of fortune, blindfolded with coins spilling from the cornucopia at her hands and wings folded around the design. PAMP put this image on a bar in 1979, the first decorative artwork ever struck onto a bullion bar, and it has been the refiner’s signature ever since. The reverse is stamped SUISSE, 1 g, FINE GOLD 999.9, the assayer’s hallmark and the serial number.
What a One Gram Bar Costs
Be clear about this: a one gram bar carries the highest premium per gram of any gold you can buy. You are paying for the card, the Veriscan system, the brand and the work of striking full detail onto a bar this small, and that adds up to well above the melt value of one gram of gold. If the goal is gold by weight at the lowest cost, a larger bar or a one ounce coin gets you far more metal per dollar.
The Card Is the Point
At this size the assay card matters more than on a big bar. Veriscan reads the bar’s surface like a fingerprint, so its authenticity can be checked by phone scan without breaking the seal, but only while the packaging is intact. A loose one gram bar is hard to sell and cannot be scan-verified, so keep it in the card. Most buyers hold this as a gift or a first piece of gold rather than a stacking unit.

Why does a 1 gram bar cost so much more than 1 gram of gold?
Because a large share of the price is not the metal. The assay card, the Veriscan authentication, the PAMP name and the effort of striking a detailed design onto a bar this small all sit on top of one gram of gold, so the premium over melt is the highest of any gold format.
Should I keep it in the assay card?
Yes. The card is the certificate and the authentication in one, and Veriscan only works while the seal is intact. A bar out of its card is worth its gold but is slower to sell and can no longer be scan-verified.
What is Veriscan?
PAMP’s anti-counterfeit system. It records the microscopic texture of each bar’s surface, unique like a fingerprint, so a dealer or owner can confirm the bar through a scan against PAMP’s database without opening the packaging.
Is this a cheap way to buy gold?
No, and it is not sold as one. Per gram it is the most expensive gold in the shop. It works as a gift or a first piece of physical gold. For gold by weight at the lowest cost, buy a larger bar or a bullion coin.
