As common as the Mexican 5 Peso Gold Coin once was when in circulation, it would be easy to take for granted how beautiful this coin is and now this coin is not only appreciated but is highly collectible. Crafted from .1206  troy oz of .90 pure gold, these coins really stand out in design and are part of a rich history the peso represents to Mexico. The year and condition you receive depend on the stock on hand.

Key features:

  • Made of 0.1206 Troy oz of .90 pure gold
  • Year and condition vary depending on stock on hand
  • Face value of 5 pesos is backed by the Mexican Government
  • Obverse has the image of an Aztec Calendar Stone
  • Reverse side has Mexico’s National Coat of Arms an Eagle with a snake in its mouth
  • Diameter: 19 mm
  • Thickness: 1.14 mm

The obverse side honors a piece of history with an image of the Cuauhxicalli Eagle Bowl or the Aztec Calendar Stone. Today we marvel at the detail of this calendar the Aztecs used. The craftsmanship of the original design was spectacular in the intricate detail of the images portrayed. This coin does a fantastic job capturing much of this detail. Under the bowl is ‘VEINTE PESOS’. Under this is the weight and purity in Spanish.

On the reverse side of the coin is Mexico’s National Coat of Arms. This image recreates the scene the Aztecs came upon where they witnessed a Mexican Gold Eagle with a rattlesnake in its mouth. They believed this was a sign that told them this was where they needed to build their great city. That city became Mexico City. Here is the eagle standing on a cactus using its beak and claws to subdue the snake. Above the image is ‘ESTRADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS’ which means the United States of Mexico.

You can’t go wrong with the Mexican 5 Peso Gold Coin with its rich history and gold content. This coin makes a fine addition to your collection or portfolio. Get yours today.

Great price and easy to liquidate if needed. These classic Mexican gold coins make great gifts too. Ordered more the same day I received them. Recommended!
