The Lincoln Penny has been a staple in the legal tender of the United States since 1909. The Lincoln Penny 1 oz Copper Round is the Osborne Mint’s tribute to that coin. The class Lincoln design on the obverse, originally designed by renowned artist, Victor D. Brenner, looks great in 1 AVDP oz of .999 fine copper. On the reverse side of the round is the shield design that was introduced in 2010. This design features a shield with ‘E Pluribus Unum’ at the top and ‘ONE CENT’ on a banner across the shield.
Key features:
- Made of 1 AVDP ounce of .999 fine copper
- Product of the Osborne Mint
- Obverse side has the classic design from the Lincoln Penny
- Reverse side has the shield design introduced in 2010 with a shield with ‘E Pluribus Unum’ and One Cent emblazoned across it as well as weight and purity
The obverse side of the round has the classic Lincoln design by Victor D. Brenner and was introduced in 1909. In this design, Abraham Lincoln is seated and looking to the right. This detailed design shows the very hairs of ‘Honest Abe’s’ beard. At the top of this side is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’. To the left of him is ‘LIBERTY’. At the bottom left is 2017. Under the date is a ‘P’, the mint mark for the Philadelphia mint. In 2017, the Philadelphia Mint put their mark on the pennies in honor of the 225th anniversary of the mint.
On the reverse is the shield design that started in 2010. This design is of a shield with ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ at the top and a ribbon across it that says ‘ONE CENT’. At the top of the round is ‘UNITED STATES MINT’. At the bottom of the round is ‘ONE AVDP OUNCE .999 COPPER’. Above the weight and purity is the Osborne Mint’s mint mark, a letter O over the letter M.
