Diamonds Are Forever is the 7th film in the James Bond series and was supposed to star George Lazemby returning for his second film as James Bond. Lazemby had signed on to play Bond for seven films. On the advice of his agent, Lazemby decided not to do any more James Bond films. This left the studio with a predicament. Who would they get to star in this film? After their search turned up empty, it was decided to get Sean Connery back at any cost. And cost them it did as Connery agreed to do it for 1.25 million dollars which would be about $7 million today.

It has been over 50 years since Diamonds Are Forever hit the big screen and the Royal Mint is celebrating with this themed 1 oz .9999 fine gold.

On the obverse of the bar is the Royal Mint’s logo and the official 007 logo. 007 is James Bond’s designation as an agent of MI6 and has a license to kill if necessary as approved by the Queen herself. At the bottom of this side is ‘1 oz 999.9 FINE SILVER’. The background of this side has a diamond pattern.

The reverse of the bar has ‘DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER’ with the word ‘FOREVER repeated and fading off into the distance. There are several images of diamonds in the background.
