The Golden State Mint 10 oz Silver Bar holds 10 troy ounces of .999 fine silver in a struck bar with sharp lettering and a clean, flat face. There is no artwork to pay for, only the mint’s name, the weight, the fineness and its quality seal. It is sold new.

 

What Is Stamped on It

The front opens with GOLDEN STATE MINT in three lines inside a raised, rounded frame. Below it, 10 TROY, OUNCES .999 and FINE SILVER run in block capitals, and a round seal fills the bottom half, with the GSM monogram in the center, ISO 9001 across the top and Quality Assured Company around the bottom. The back is covered corner to corner in GOLDEN STATE MINT repeated in diagonal rows.

Golden State Mint is a family-run private mint, and despite the name, it is based in Central Florida. It mints silver, gold and copper in a wide range of sizes and designs. The ISO 9001 seal on the bar is GSM’s own quality mark. Made in Central Florida, by a family-run private mint.

No. Despite the name, Golden State Mint is based in Central Florida, by its own account. Florida, not California, though the name often suggests otherwise.

 

What does the ISO 9001 seal mean?

ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management. GSM stamps the seal on its bars with the words Quality Assured Company. It is GSM’s quality mark, not a statement about the silver’s fineness, which is stamped separately as .999.

 

How heavy is a 10 oz silver bar?

It weighs 10 troy ounces, which is 311.03 grams, or about 0.69 pounds. Two thirds of a pound, easy to hold in one hand.
