Napoleon the III was Napoleon Bonaparte’s nephew. Like his uncle before him, he left office disgraced. During his rule, his image was on the 10 Franc Gold Coin. His portrait shows him facing to the right. Around his image was Emperor Napoleon III in French. Depending on the year there are two different versions of the portrait one with his head bare and another with a laurel leaf crown.
The reverse side of the coin has two different designs. One version has the number ‘10 Francs’ and the year of issue. The other version has the image of the French Coat of Arms. Which version of the reverse depends on the year of issue.
