Engelhard once stood as the largest precious metals refiner in the world, and their silver bars remain among the most recognized and actively traded products in the secondary market. Production ceased decades ago when the company was acquired, meaning no new Engelhard bars will ever enter the market. That fixed supply ceiling gives these bars a collectibility that standard privately minted silver bars simply cannot match. Each contains 10 troy ounces of 999+ fine silver and carries an individual serial number.

Key Features:

  • Purity: 999+ fine silver
  • Weight: 10 troy ounces
  • Obverse: Engelhard “E” globe logo centered at top — stylized “E” superimposed over a gridded sphere; “10 TROY OUNCES / FINE SILVER / 999+” stamped below; “ENGELHARD” in a recessed rectangular cartouche; individual serial number at base
  • Reverse: Full-surface repeating diagonal pattern of “ENGELHARD” name stamps in octagonal frames, arranged in continuous diagonal rows across the entire bar face; textured background field
  • Style: Varies — Engelhard produced 10 oz bars across multiple design iterations; specific style depends on current inventory

The obverse is clean and authoritative. The Engelhard globe logo — a bold “E” overlaid on a latitudinal and longitudinal grid sphere — sits at the top of the bar face, immediately identifiable to anyone familiar with the brand. Weight, purity, and the Engelhard name in its characteristic cartouche are stamped below in a straightforward stacked layout. Each bar carries its own unique serial number at the base, a detail that adds both authentication value and individual identity to every piece.

The reverse takes the brand’s identity and tiles it across the entire surface. The “ENGELHARD” name repeats diagonally in raised octagonal stamps from corner to corner, the pattern interrupted only by the bar’s rounded edges. It is a distinctive look — functional as a security feature, recognizable at a glance — and one of the details that makes Engelhard bars immediately distinguishable from competitors in any dealer’s tray.

Engelhard’s legacy in industrial chemistry is substantial. The company developed the first production catalytic converter, among many other contributions to precious metals processing and industrial chemistry. That history underpins the brand’s enduring reputation in bullion circles, where the Engelhard name consistently commands stronger secondary market interest than comparable bars from lesser-known refiners.

These bars are sourced from the secondary market and may show toning or light handling marks consistent with age. No assay card is included. With production permanently closed, available inventory only decreases over time. Add one to your cart today.

I can’t believe I was able to get an Engelhard bar for this price! I looked everywhere and they are getting harder and harder to find. I am so glad I found out about HERO, quick shipping too.

Relatively new to stacking and every but often I’d here bout “Engelhard” brand silver bars, and there always seemed to be extra
excitement surrounding any bullion with the Engelhard name attached, however I had no idea what was such a big deal with this brand, so naturally I did a lil’ reading…and wow, such fascinating American history behind the Engelhard name, and Engelhard (Jr. I think)was the real-life inspiration for the fictional 007 Goldfinger character….So cool…Soooo…now I get it, and of course with Hero having some of this vintage silver at a very reasonable prices, naturally i had to snag a few rounds and one nice n’ husky 10oz Engelhard Ag Bar…as a rule of thumb i only stack government issued bullion (mostly American & Canadian) but after learning about the American legend whose name once was synonymous with world renowned, exceptional quality bullion products..im very happy to make an exception to my rule and to own a few pieces of really cool history without breaking the bank..
