The British Silver Britannia is one of the most widely held government-issued silver coins in the world, produced annually by the Royal Mint and carrying 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver. This listing offers the same coin at a reduced premium — coins that carry cosmetic imperfections that disqualify them from standard bullion grades but contain every gram of silver the standard issue does.
Key Features:
- Purity and weight: 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver
- Metal: Silver
- Obverse: Standing figure of Britannia with trident, shield bearing the Union Jack, and flowing robes; inscribed Britannia, 1oz, 999 Fine Silver, and Random Year
- Reverse: Right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in crown; inscribed Elizabeth II, D G Reg, 2 Pounds
- Condition: Off quality — cosmetic defects present; silver content unaffected
The coins in this listing are genuine Royal Mint Silver Britannias in every respect — same dies, same silver, same legal tender status. What separates them from standard inventory is visible surface damage. The example shown displays dark spotting across both faces, a condition that can develop on silver coins through exposure to airborne contaminants or certain packaging materials during storage. Spots of this kind are a cosmetic issue only; they do not indicate a problem with the silver content or strike quality underneath.
Other coins in this listing may show different types of off-quality characteristics — heavy bag marks, scratches, toning, or similar surface issues. The specific defect will vary. What will not vary is the full 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver in each coin and the underlying quality of the Royal Mint strike.
Year of issue is random and will vary with available inventory. The obverse portrait reflects the year received — coins from earlier years carry the Queen Elizabeth II effigy; more recent issues may carry King Charles III.
For buyers focused on silver content per dollar rather than presentation, this listing delivers a recognized government coin at the most accessible price point in our Britannia inventory. Add one to your cart today.

I received my order of these coins today, and I am hard-pressed to identify why the coins I received are culls. Maybe, as a stacker, I am less picky than others, but the most I could see were some nicks in the reeding on the edges of a few of the coins. I am very pleased.
