Copper’s affordability over precious metals like gold and silver makes it easy for collectors to stack. While copper rounds are often sold at relatively high premiums over the spot price of copper, collecting copper rounds has become a popular hobby for stackers all over the world.

Because of the low cost of copper compared to other metals, 2 oz copper rounds are an increasingly popular size to buy. Particularly popular among modern collectors are “infinity” copper rounds, which are stylized collectables made using two different 1 oz copper rounds.

Hero Bullion is proud to offer a wide inventory of in-stock 2 oz copper rounds. Take advantage of competitive pricing, free shipping on qualifying orders, and more when you buy 2 oz copper rounds online with Hero Bullion!

About 2 oz Copper Rounds

Copper rounds are minted and sold in various sizes, with most weights falling between 1 ounce and 1 kilo. The 2 oz size is not as common as other weights, but the appeal of 2 oz copper rounds has grown as collecting copper continues to become an increasingly popular American pastime.

A 2 oz copper round typically describes a single round weighing 2 AVDP ounces, but some modern 2 oz copper rounds are sold as 2 single-ounce rounds packaged in special “infinity capsules.” These special rounds introduce a new layer of collectability to 2 oz copper rounds, giving collectors something special to add to their portfolios.

Copper Rounds or Copper Bars – What’s the Better Investment?

Many copper stackers wonder whether copper rounds or copper bars are a better investment. These two methods of buying copper bullion come with their own distinct upsides and downsides.

Copper bars tend to be better for stackers who want to invest in copper itself, although no retail copper product is particularly well suited for speculating on copper prices. Copper bars typically offer lower premiums over spot price compared to copper rounds or coins, but all retail copper products are sold at a high premium over copper’s spot price.

Copper rounds, on the other hand, are almost exclusively purchased as collectables. They are sold at high premiums over spot price, but copper rounds are also decorated with high-quality designs. Many 2 oz copper rounds are even colorized, adding a new dimension to their artwork for collectors to enjoy.

What’s the better choice? If you’re looking to stack as much copper as possible while minimizing premiums, go with copper bars or copper chop. But if you view copper items as collectable, you’ll enjoy the beautiful designs and limited mintages found on many copper rounds.

2 oz – A Unique Weight

1 AVDP ounce is generally considered the most popular copper round weight, but 2 oz copper rounds are growing in popularity. This is especially true for unique 2 oz copper rounds hitting the market, such as the “infinity capsule” branded rounds being produced by various mints.

Two ounce copper rounds offer double the weight of a traditional 1 oz round without the bulkiness of a much larger piece. After the 2 oz weight, copper rounds are usually sold in 5 oz, 10 oz, and kilo sizes, making the 2 oz copper round an excellent stopgap between larger weights.

Infinity 2 oz Copper Rounds Explained

“Infinity” 2 oz copper rounds are products made using two 1 oz copper rounds fitted inside of an infinity capsule. Infinity capsules have two spaces, one for each 1 oz piece, shaped to look like an infinity symbol.

An infinity 2 oz copper round set may feature two distinct, unrelated designs, and other infinity 2 x 1 oz colorized copper rounds use each round to create a larger image. The Chinese Dragons Day & Night Edition 2 x 1 oz Colorized Copper Rounds package is an example of this; one round depicts the top of the dragon, and the other depicts the bottom.

Infinity capsules can also be used for storage or display. Some collectors like to display their favorite 1 oz copper rounds inside of infinity capsules; a single infinity capsule can hold two different 1 oz coins or rounds.

Buying 2 oz Copper Rounds

2 oz copper rounds are highly affordable, offering a more substantial weight than the standard 1 oz copper round while still being a fairly casual cost investment. While 2 oz copper rounds are not quite as common as 1 oz rounds, collectors have quite a few options to choose from when they go to purchase 2 oz copper rounds for their collections.

Choosing the Right 2 oz Copper Round

We’re excited to offer a large inventory of 2 oz copper rounds. But which copper round is right for your collection?

The good news is that 2 oz copper rounds are considerably more affordable than precious metal rounds in gold, silver, or platinum. Because of this low cost-basis, collectors can often afford to add several 2 oz copper rounds to their portfolios at one time.

When deciding which copper round is best for your collection, think about the types of designs you enjoy. 2 oz copper rounds are available in a wide range of different designs. Some are plain, some are colorized, some are fitted in an infinity capsule and intended to be displayed together… There are a lot of options out there!

Are 2 oz Copper Rounds Worth It?

2 oz copper rounds can be a fantastic product, but they’re not for everyone. The main downside of buying retail-grade copper rounds is that they are a poor way to speculate on the price of copper. The spot price of copper is quoted in pounds and describes the price large institutional investors pay to purchase massive quantities of copper – typically one ton or more.

As a result, processed copper products like copper rounds are sold at higher premiums over spot price than similar products in precious metals like gold, silver, or platinum.

Copper rounds are mostly traded as collectable products. Some limited edition copper rounds can retain or gain value over time, but investors who buy copper rounds usually do so because they enjoy the limited mintages, beautiful designs, and substantial weights that copper rounds provide.
