The Buffalo 1/2 oz Silver Round shrinks America’s favorite bullion design into a fractional format built for flexibility. Each round contains one half troy ounce of .999 fine silver, giving stackers smaller units for barter-minded holdings or gradual accumulation, while the faithful Buffalo Nickel artwork keeps the classic look collectors reach for. Rounds ship new with bright, unhandled surfaces.

Key Features:

  • 1/2 Troy oz of .999 fine silver
  • Fractional round based on the 1913 Buffalo Nickel design
  • Obverse: the Native American profile with braided hair and feathers
  • Reverse: the standing American bison with stamped weight and purity

The obverse reproduces James Earle Fraser’s celebrated portrait, a Native American chief in right-facing profile, hair gathered into a knotted braid with feathers trailing behind, the face modeled with the weathered realism that made the original nickel famous. LIBERTY runs along the right rim. Fraser composited the portrait from several chiefs who sat for him, creating an emblem of the American West that has outlived the coin it was made for. The reverse carries the design’s other half, the American bison standing four-square on a strip of prairie, its humped shoulders and shaggy coat modeled after Black Diamond, the bison said to have lived in New York’s Central Park Zoo. ONE HALF TROY OUNCE arcs above, 999 FINE SILVER sits below, and a small hallmark rests near the ground line.

A reeded edge finishes the round, and the stamped weight and purity make every piece self-verifying at resale, no packaging required.

Half-ounce rounds cost less per piece than full ounces while carrying the same recognizable artwork, a practical mix for gifts, starters, and divisible stacks. Order the Buffalo 1/2 oz Silver Round today and add fractional silver with a design every dealer knows on sight.
