Bank-branded gold is uncommon in the retail market, and this bar carries the name of Canada’s oldest bank. BMO Capital Markets is one of the LBMA’s market-making members, and the bars issued under its brand are refined and assayed by Rand Refinery in South Africa, the largest single-site gold refinery in the world. What you get is one troy ounce of 99.99% fine gold backed by two institutions that trade gold at wholesale scale rather than one that only sells it.
Key Features:
- Purity and Weight: 1 oz of 99.99% fine gold
- Metal: Gold, refined by Rand Refinery and branded by BMO Capital Markets
- Obverse: BMO logo above the weight, fineness, and serial number
- Reverse: Repeating BMO roundel pattern struck across the full surface
The face of the bar is stamped into a bright polished field. BMO appears in wide capitals beside the bank’s red roundel logo, followed by 1 oz, FINE GOLD, and 99.99% in clean stacked lines. The individual serial number runs along the lower edge in the BMO prefix format. Corners are softly radiused and the perimeter is cleanly finished, so bars sit flat when stacked.
The reverse is tiled edge to edge with a repeating pattern of the BMO roundel and wordmark, set in staggered rows across the entire surface. Full coverage leaves no blank field where tampering could pass unnoticed, and any handling mark shows immediately against the regular pattern.
The bar arrives new and sealed in a BarCard security case, a rigid blue assay card printed MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA along the top. A printed panel on the front lists the 999.9 gold fineness, the 1 oz weight, and the certificate number, with Rand Refinery named as certified assayer. The number on the card matches the number stamped into the bar. BMO Capital Markets appears on the reverse of the card.
