Fractional silver usually means a plain design and a stiff premium. This round pushes back on the first part. It carries half a troy ounce of .999 fine silver and fits the entire Aztec Sun Stone across the face, with the day-sign glyphs and fire serpents all cut in at a scale most half-ounce products would not attempt. The small size makes it useful for gifting, gradual stacking, and divisibility without giving up the artwork.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 1/2 troy ounce of .999 fine silver
  • Metal: Silver, struck in high relief
  • Obverse: The full Aztec Sun Stone in concentric glyph rings
  • Reverse: Profile portrait of Cuauhtémoc with weight and purity inscriptions

The obverse reproduces the Sun Stone in full. At the center sits the face of the sun deity, its tongue rendered as a sacrificial blade and clawed hands gripping hearts to either side. Four square panels around it mark the previous world ages. The next band carries the twenty day signs of the ritual calendar in individual boxed glyphs, ringed in turn by solar rays, quincunx markers, and stepped geometric borders. Around the outer edge, two fire serpents run head to tail, their scaled bodies and flame crests cut in separate raised lines. The original monolith was carved in the fifteenth century and now hangs in Mexico City’s National Museum of Anthropology.

The reverse presents Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor, in left-facing profile. He wears an elaborate feathered headdress with a beaded brow band and long plumes sweeping back, a circular ear ornament below, and quilted armor across the shoulder. His name is stamped in small capitals beneath the bust. HALF TROY OUNCE arcs across the top with .999 FINE SILVER wrapping the lower rim, framed by a stepped fret border in the Mesoamerican style.
