  • Obverse side has a side portrait of Cuauhtémoc, the Aztec emperor. Above his head is written, ‘Tenth Troy Ounce’ Under his portrait is ‘999 Fine Silver’
  • Reverse side has the detailed image of the Aztec calendar

The obverse side of this coin features the last Aztec emperor, Cuauhtémoc  He is widely celebrated as a hero and is commonly honored in statues and coins throughout Mexico. Cuauhtémoc is beloved for his being the only Aztec emperor to survive the conquest of Spain. His name translates to “one who has descended like an eagle” referring to the way an eagle dives toward its prey. The name captures the determination and aggressiveness of the eagle’s dive and this great leader.  Written above him is ‘Tenth Troy Ounce’. Under his portrait is ‘999 Fine Silver’. Right below is his name, ‘Cuauhtémoc’.

On the reverse of the coin, is the highly detailed Aztec calendar. The Golden State has demonstrated great skill in minting this coin with so much detail. The Aztec calendar is very intricate and would be a challenge for any mint. They have managed to capture it so well in 1/10 oz .999 fine silver. The Aztec calendar is a very complex calendar and covers 52 years. While we mark time on our calendar as month, day and year, the Aztec calendar represents time as something like 7 rabbit 1 wind 7 reed and the governing deity for that year. Also captured in their calendar is whether or not that day will impact you positively or negatively like our horoscopes.  The Aztec calendar is round so is a perfect fit for a coin.

The Golden State Mint was founded in 1974 in Central Florida. They have a winning track record of making coins using their state of the art equipment. In fact, they are always upgrading and adding equipment to make the highest quality coins in a variety of metals and a huge assortment of designs.

With the Aztec Calendar 1/10 oz Silver Round coin, you get a great quality, highly-detailed coin that shows off what can be done in a coin with this unique design. This will make a fantastic addition to anyone’s collection.

Bought 2 of these as a “just because ” kind of thing and I must say they are cool … high premium for stacking but definitely worth having some fractionals lying around and these are perfect for that .. 1 of these might be a loaf of bread one day who knows… God bless ?
