Logo on the Front, Spiral on the Back

The front is laid out like a hallmark. Asahi’s angular logo sits at the top, ASAHI REFINING runs beneath it, FINE SILVER 999 is boxed in the middle, and 1 OUNCE TROY closes out the bottom. Turn it over and the back is covered edge to edge in what Asahi calls its “Spiral,” a repeating pattern set on the diagonal that catches the light differently as the bar tilts. The Spiral covers the back, so there is no blank side to this bar.

 

Asahi Bar or Asahi Round?

Asahi strikes a 1 oz round as well, and the silver in each is the same: one troy ounce, .999 fine. The difference is the shape. The round is a 39 mm disc with a reeded edge, while the bar is a rectangle with rounded corners and a smooth edge. Same silver, different shape, so the choice comes down to how you like your stack to look and sit. Bars lie flat and line up neatly in a box; rounds fit standard coin tubes and holders.

 

The Cost of Buying by the Ounce
