Her hair falls loose past her shoulders, and a basket of harvested produce sits at her feet. Behind her, the spires of the Salt Lake Temple rise through the trees, with a bird perched on a branch overhead and blossoms scattered through the canopy. Her name runs vertically along the right edge. The line “Out of small things proceedeth that which is great” is set in script beneath the figure, a verse tied to the state’s settlement history. The 5 denomination sits inside an ornamental rosette at the upper left, with UTAH, Goldbacks, and Negotiable Instrument across the top. An AURUM serial number runs vertically along the left edge next to the GB seal and the α 2026 series mark. The base panel reads 1/200th Troy Ounce 24K Gold, payable in US gold coin to bearer on demand, with FIVE at the bottom.
The back carries the same artwork in reverse impression on an unprinted gold surface, showing the deposited gold layer rather than ink. Under ultraviolet light the note shifts to violet with border patterns and lettering fluorescing, one of several security features alongside serialization and microprinting.
