Twenty Tubes, Five Hundred Maples
A 2027 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Monster Box contains 500 coins from the Royal Canadian Mint. Each coin holds one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver and comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
The box contains 20 tubes of 25 coins each, for a total of 500 troy ounces of silver. Every coin carries a $5 CAD face value and meets the applicable requirements for inclusion in a precious metals IRA.
The Same 2027 Maple, 500 Coins
Every coin in the box features Walter Ott’s sugar maple leaf on the reverse and the King Charles III effigy with the 2027 date on the obverse.
All 500 coins share the same date and design.
Each Silver Maple Leaf also includes the Royal Canadian Mint’s current security features, including precision radial lines across the surface and a micro-engraved maple leaf that can be viewed under magnification. The coins are also treated with MintShield, which is designed to reduce the occurrence of milk spots.
Plan for the Weight and the Long Haul
The 500 coins alone weigh approximately 15,551 grams, or about 34 pounds. The tubes and outer box add additional weight.
A full monster box represents more than 34 pounds of packaged physical silver to store and move.
Monster boxes are often purchased for longer-term holdings, so storage is worth planning in advance. MintShield reduces the likelihood of milk spotting but does not eliminate it entirely. Across 500 coins, some spotting may still develop over time.
Keeping the box in a dry environment and leaving the tubes closed until needed can help limit unnecessary handling.
Not the Silver Eagle Tube Count
Canadian Silver Maples and American Silver Eagles both come 500 coins to a standard monster box, but the tube configuration is different.
A Silver Maple tube contains 25 coins, while a Silver Eagle tube contains 20.
That means a Maple monster box contains 20 tubes rather than 25. For buyers planning to divide a box, store by the tube, or sell smaller quantities later, each standard Maple tube represents 25 ounces of silver.
Buying the full monster box also generally lowers the premium per coin compared with purchasing the same coins individually or by the tube.
