Canada’s Platinum Coin, Dated 2027
The 2027 Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf contains one troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum from the Royal Canadian Mint. Each coin carries a $50 CAD face value and comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Every coin contains one full troy ounce of platinum, backed by the Government of Canada for weight, content, and purity. The Royal Canadian Mint identifies the Platinum Maple Leaf as its 99.95% pure platinum bullion coin, and the 2027 issue is eligible for inclusion in a precious metals IRA.
The Maple Leaf in Platinum
The reverse gives the center of the coin to a single sugar maple leaf. CANADA appears above the design, with 9995 on either side and FINE PLATINUM and 1 OZ PLATINE PUR along the bottom.
The obverse features Steven Rosati’s bare-headed portrait of King Charles III, accompanied by CHARLES III, the $50 denomination, and the 2027 date.
Both sides are set against precision radial lines that create a distinctive pattern as the coin moves under light.
Why .9995 and Not .9999
The Gold and Silver Maple Leafs are struck in .9999 fine metal, while the Platinum Maple Leaf is struck in .9995 fine platinum.
That .9995 fineness is the purity standard used for the Platinum Maple Leaf.
Each coin still contains one full troy ounce of platinum, and the 9995 purity marking appears on the reverse. The Royal Canadian Mint also does not announce a fixed mintage for its standard bullion Maples, so the 2027 date identifies the year of issue rather than a stated limited production run.
Two Security Features
The Platinum Maple Leaf incorporates two visible security features from the Royal Canadian Mint. Precision radial lines cover the fields, while a micro-engraved maple leaf on the reverse includes a numeral corresponding to the year of issue.
Both features are built directly into the coin and can be examined when checking authenticity.
The Royal Canadian Mint packages Platinum Maple Leafs in tubes of 10 coins.
