The Britannia in Platinum, Dated 2027

The 2027 1 oz British Platinum Britannia contains one troy ounce of 999.5 fine platinum from The Royal Mint. Each coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and carries a £100 face value.

The coin contains one full troy ounce of platinum, weighs approximately 31.21 grams, and measures 32.69 mm across. It features Philip Nathan’s Britannia on the reverse and Martin Jennings’s portrait of King Charles III on the obverse.

The 2027 Platinum Britannia is also eligible for inclusion in a precious metals IRA.

No Anniversary Mark on Platinum

For 2027, The Royal Mint added anniversary details to the gold and silver Britannias. The gold issue carries a “40” privy mark, while the silver version features a “30” privy, along with anniversary background treatments.

The Platinum Britannia does not use either of those additions. The 2027 platinum coin retains the standard Britannia design without an anniversary privy or special background texture.

That distinction is part of The Royal Mint’s 2027 specification. Buyers interested specifically in the anniversary treatments will find them on the gold and silver versions, while the platinum coin continues with the regular bullion design.

Nathan’s Britannia, Jennings’s King

The reverse features Philip Nathan’s Britannia design, first introduced in 1987. Britannia strides forward wearing a helmet and carrying a trident, Union Flag shield, and olive branch.

The obverse features Martin Jennings’s official coinage portrait of King Charles III.

The Platinum Britannia uses the same familiar core design language as the other modern Britannia bullion coins. At 32.69 mm in diameter, it also matches the diameter of the 1 oz Gold Britannia.

Four Security Features, 999.5 Fine

The 2027 Platinum Britannia incorporates the security features used across modern Britannia bullion coins.

A latent image changes between a padlock and a trident as the coin tilts. DECUS ET TUTAMEN appears in micro-text around Britannia, tincture lines add detailed patterns to the design, and surface animation creates the appearance of moving waves as the coin turns under light.

The coin is struck in 999.5 fine platinum, the purity standard used by The Royal Mint for this issue.

The 2027 coins are packaged in Royal Mint tubes for larger quantities.
