About the 2027 Austrian Silver Philharmonic

The 2027 1 oz Austrian Silver Philharmonic is one troy ounce of .999 fine silver from the Austrian Mint in Vienna, carrying a €1.50 face value and the 2027 date. The mint has struck the silver Philharmonic since 2008, and only the date changes from one year to the next. Every coin in this listing is dated 2027.

What’s Struck on the 2027 Coin

The obverse shows the Great Organ in the Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein, the concert hall the Vienna Philharmonic calls home. REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH runs across the top, and beneath the organ sit 1 UNZE FEINSILBER, the year and the face value. The reverse turns to the orchestra itself: a cello at the center, four violins around it, with a Vienna horn, a bassoon and a harp behind. WIENER PHILHARMONIKER arcs over the instruments with SILBER below. Thomas Pesendorfer, then chief engraver of the Austrian Mint, designed both sides for the gold Philharmonic in 1989, and the silver coin took them over without a single change.

A New Date, Not a Scarcer Coin

The Austrian Mint strikes Philharmonics to demand, so production rises and falls with orders from year to year. No mintage limit applies, and a 2027 date makes this the current coin, not a rarer one. It’s priced on its silver, and the €1.50 face value sits far below what that silver is worth.

Bullion coins are struck and packed in volume, so light contact marks are normal on a Brilliant Uncirculated coin. Minor marks are expected, and the silver content is the same on every coin.

Why the Silver Philharmonic Belongs in Your Stack

It’s the only European bullion coin with a face value in euros, and that face value is legal tender in Austria, not across the wider eurozone. Behind it is Austria’s national mint, striking the same design in silver every year since 2008. The coin is .999 fine and IRA eligible, so it can sit alongside Silver Eagles and Maple Leafs in a precious metals IRA.

2027 1 oz Austrian Silver Philharmonic FAQ

Is the 2027 design different from earlier years?

No. The Great Organ and the orchestra have appeared on every silver Philharmonic since 2008, and the 2027 coin differs from those only in its date. Same design since 2008, by Thomas Pesendorfer.

Is the 2027 Silver Philharmonic a limited mintage?

No. The Austrian Mint strikes Philharmonics to meet demand, and the number made varies year by year. Struck to demand, so buy it for the silver and the date.

Will every coin I receive be dated 2027?

Yes. This listing is for the 2027 date only. Other years of the Silver Philharmonic are listed separately. 2027 date only, on every coin in the order.

Is the 2027 Silver Philharmonic IRA eligible?

Yes. It’s .999 fine silver from a national government mint, and it qualifies for a precious metals IRA. .999 fine qualifies, like every silver Philharmonic.

How are Silver Philharmonics packaged?

In tubes of 20 coins. A monster box holds 25 tubes, or 500 coins. 500 per monster box, in 25 tubes of 20.
