A 10 Gram Ghana Silver Foil
This is a 2026 1 Cedi coin of Ghana, issued as a flexible silver foil rather than a struck coin. It holds 10 grams of .999 fine silver, colorized front to back with a gold Angel of Independence over a holographic background, and it comes in a capsule with a certificate, in a presentation box. It is a colorized art piece, not a stacking coin.
The Angel and the Color
The figure is the winged Victory from Mexico City’s Angel of Independence monument, one arm raising a laurel wreath, wings spread, in gold tone against a printed sky of pink, cyan and violet with classical columns behind. The foil is a thin colorized sheet, not a relief strike, with REPUBLIC OF GHANA, the 1 Cedi value and the weight printed along the edges. Held to the light, the background shifts color.
What You Are Paying For
Say it plainly: 10 grams of silver is a small amount of metal, worth far less than this foil costs. The price is the full-color printing, the holographic effect, the foil format, a very small mintage and the certificate and box. You are buying the artwork and the low mintage, not the silver.
Legal Tender, on Paper
The 1 Cedi face value is real Ghanaian legal tender, which is what makes this a coin rather than a round or a medal. The silver in it is worth far more than a Cedi, though, so nobody spends these. The face value is a formality that lets a foreign mint strike the piece for Ghana under the country’s authority.
Specifications

Angel of Independence Foil FAQ
Is this a coin?
Technically yes. It is Ghanaian legal tender at 1 Cedi, but it is made as a colorized silver foil rather than a struck coin, so it handles more like a printed sheet than a coin in a tube.
How much silver is in it?
Ten grams, about a third of a troy ounce, at .999 fine. It is real silver, but the amount is small next to the price, so the metal is a minor part of what you pay.
Why does it cost more than 10 grams of silver?
Because most of the price is the printing and the format. Full-color art, the holographic background, the foil construction, a small mintage and the certificate all sit on top of a third of an ounce of silver.
What is the Angel of Independence?
A monument in Mexico City, a gold winged Victory on a column, raised in 1910 for the centenary of Mexican independence. This foil uses that figure as its artwork; it is not a Ghanaian landmark.
Is this foil IRA eligible?
No. A colorized silver foil is not an approved form for a precious metals IRA, whatever the fineness, and the price here is mostly art and packaging. This is a collectible to display.
