2025 Superman 2.5 oz Silver Medal, Graded NGC MS70
A 2.5 troy ounce Superman medal from the U.S. Mint, graded MS70 by NGC on the grade alone, with no release designation. It is the big silver piece from the first release of the Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program.
Raised on a Farm, Powered by the Sun
The Mint frames Superman through the people and place that made him. On Joseph Menna’s obverse he flies over the Kent family farm, under a sun that the Mint says both grows the crops and fuels his powers. In the Mint’s telling, it is the love and values of Martha and Jonathan Kent that ultimately made him a hero.
The Son Who Will Leave
The reverse looks at the same story from the ground. Young Clark Kent watches a plane fly overhead, deep in thought, and his father looks on from a distance, knowing his son will leave home before long. The reverse also carries the words SUPERMAN and HOPE AND STRENGTH.
Silver Medal Beside a Gold Coin
Superman’s release paired this medal with a half ounce gold $50 coin struck in proof at West Point. The silver medal is the larger piece by far, 50.80 mm against the gold coin’s 27.00 mm, struck at Philadelphia in a matte finish with no denomination and no mint mark. Of the two silver sizes, the 2.5 ounce was the one the Mint limited.
MS70, Nothing Added
NGC’s 70 is the top of its scale and means no post-production imperfections under 5x magnification. This medal has no Early Releases or First Day of Issue designation, only the grade.
This is a collectible. Its value comes from its grade, rarity, and design rather than its metal weight alone.
