2025 Batman 1 oz Silver Medal, NGC MS70 Early Releases
This U.S. Mint Batman medal reached NGC in the early window and came back MS70 Early Releases. NGC lists the issue as the DC Comics 2025 1oz Batman in a matte finish, and it set the Early Releases cutoff for it at February 24, 2026.
Ordered in September, Graded After Shipping
The Mint took orders for the Batman medals starting September 25, 2025, with shipping scheduled for winter. NGC grants Early Releases to pieces received by NGC or an approved depository within 30 days of an issue’s release, and for the one ounce Batman that window closed on February 24, 2026. It is a record of timing, decided at NGC’s discretion, and it sits apart from the grade.
The Mint’s Matte Silver Batman
The medal is 99.9% fine silver in a matte finish, the surface the Mint chose for both Batman silver medals while the gold coin got a proof finish. NGC files it under MS, and a 70 there means no post-production imperfections at 5x magnification.
Menna’s Batman for the Comic Art Program
Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, a former DC artist, designed the action obverse: Batman in motion in Gotham, a stone eagle and LIBERTY. Batman stands watch on a skyscraper on the reverse with the Bat-Signal behind him. The medal belongs to the Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program with Warner Bros. Discovery, where Batman followed Superman as the second hero.
A Medal, With No Denomination
The silver Batman is a medal, not a coin, so it carries no denomination. It was struck at Philadelphia without a mint mark, and the Mint put no mintage limit on the one ounce size.
This is a collectible. Its value comes from its grade, rarity, and design rather than its metal weight alone.

2025 Batman 1 oz Silver Medal NGC MS70 ER FAQ
What was the Early Releases cutoff for the Batman medal?
NGC set it at February 24, 2026 for the one ounce Batman, the same date as the 2.5 ounce medal.
Why is the cutoff months after the September 2025 launch?
The Mint opened orders in September 2025 and scheduled shipping for winter. NGC’s Early Releases runs 30 days from an issue’s release, and NGC set this medal’s cutoff in February 2026.
What is the difference between ER and FDI?
ER covers pieces NGC received within 30 days of release. FDI requires purchase within one day of the first day of sale, with receipts.
Why does NGC grade it MS and not PF?
NGC lists the one ounce Batman as a matte (MS) issue. The Mint struck the silver medals matte, and only the gold coin is a proof.
Is the silver Batman medal limited?
No. The Mint set no mintage limit on the one ounce Batman, unlike the 2.5 ounce medal and the gold coin.
