Batman in Silver From the U.S. Mint, Graded MS70 by NGC
This is the one ounce Batman silver medal from the U.S. Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program, graded MS70 by NGC. It was struck at Philadelphia in 99.9% fine silver with a matte finish, and it carries Batman on both sides, in action over Gotham and standing watch beneath the Bat-Signal.
The Second Hero in the Mint’s DC Program
The Mint and Warner Bros. Discovery built the Comic Art program around DC superheroes, three heroes a year from 2025 through 2027. Superman opened the series in July 2025, Batman followed on September 25, 2025, with Wonder Woman scheduled next. Each hero gets a half ounce gold $50 coin and two silver medals sharing the same artwork.
The Dark Knight, Drawn by a Former DC Artist
U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, who drew for DC before joining the Mint, designed the obverse. It shows Batman in motion over Gotham beside a stone eagle, inscribed LIBERTY. The reverse sets Batman in silhouette on a skyscraper ledge against the city skyline, the Bat-Signal lighting the sky behind him, with the inscriptions BATMAN and JUSTICE AND COURAGE.
A Medal, Not a Coin
The gold Batman piece is the program’s legal tender coin. The silver versions are medals, so this one has no denomination and no coin inscriptions. The Mint’s own price included a premium to offset the licensing costs it pays DC.
What MS70 Means Here
NGC grades on a 70-point scale, and a 70 means no post-production imperfections visible at 5x magnification. It is the highest grade NGC assigns.
This is a collectible. Its value comes from its grade, rarity, and design rather than its metal weight alone.

Who made this medal?
The United States Mint struck it at Philadelphia under its agreement with DC, as part of its Comic Art Coin and Medal Program with Warner Bros. Discovery.
