The Perth Mint’s Lunar Series III reaches the Year of the Snake with this 2025 1 oz silver coin, struck from 99.99% pure silver and issued as legal tender in Australia. Bullion buyers get an ounce of high-purity silver at a modest premium. Collectors get the annual design change that has kept the Lunar program in demand since 1996.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 1 troy oz of 99.99% fine silver
  • Metal Type: Silver
  • Obverse Design: Portrait of King Charles III with weight, fineness, and the 1 DOLLAR denomination
  • Reverse Design: Coiled snake beneath willow branches, with the Chinese character for snake and the P mintmark

The reverse gives the snake real presence. The body loops in tight coils on open ground, head raised and turned forward, with individual scales worked across the length of the animal and a banded pattern running along the underside. Willow fronds hang into the design from both upper corners, their narrow leaves framing a background of still water and low hills. The Chinese character 蛇 sits at the top of the field, SNAKE and 2025 directly below it, and The Perth Mint’s P mintmark appears in the left field.

The obverse carries a left-facing effigy of King Charles III, with CHARLES III and AUSTRALIA arced along the upper rim. Beneath the portrait, the legend reads 1oz 9999 Ag and 1 DOLLAR, so weight, purity, and face value are all confirmed on the coin itself. A fine beaded border rings both faces. The snake holds sixth place in the Chinese zodiac and is traditionally associated with wisdom, patience, and self-possession, with recent snake years falling in 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025.

Each coin ships brilliant uncirculated in a protective acrylic capsule, and full multiples of 20 typically arrive in sealed mint rolls. Perth Mint bullion coins also carry a micro-engraved security feature that is only visible under magnification. Mintage is capped at 300,000 coins.

One-ounce Lunar silver has a track record of picking up numismatic premiums once a release closes at the mint, and the Snake is the sixth animal in a twelve-coin series many buyers are working to complete. Add the 2025 Lunar Snake to your cart today.
