The 2025 American Silver Eagle carries last year’s date on the same Walking Liberty design the US Mint first struck in 1986. Every coin holds one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, backed by a $1 face value from the federal government. It carries the current Type 2 reverse used on every Eagle struck from mid-2021 onward, Adolph Weinman’s striding Liberty on the obverse and Emily Damstra’s landing eagle on the reverse, just wearing the 2025 date instead of the newest one.

Why the Silver Eagle Belongs in Your Stack

Does the 2025 Silver Eagle have a mint mark?
No. Bullion-strike Eagles never carry a mint mark, regardless of year or which facility struck them. Only the Mint’s separate proof and burnished collector versions carry a W. No mint mark is normal, not a defect.
Is the 2025 American Silver Eagle IRA eligible?
Yes. The American Silver Eagle has its own listing in the tax code as an approved IRA coin, separate from the fineness rule other silver has to clear. It qualifies by name, on top of already meeting the purity standard anyway.
How much silver is in a 2025 Silver Eagle?

How are American Silver Eagles packaged?

Brilliant Uncirculated, as struck by the Mint. Because .999 silver is soft, coins may show light handling marks from the minting process, which is normal for the series and doesn’t affect the silver content. Condition is Brilliant Uncirculated, not a certified grade.
