A kilo of silver has real presence in hand, and the Perth Mint gives it a design that changes every year. The 2025 Silver Koala carries 32.15 troy ounces of 9999 fine silver, a 30 Dollar face value, and a fresh koala portrait that will not be repeated. Buying a kilo at once also pulls the per-ounce premium well below what smaller coins cost, which is the practical case for the format.
Key Features:
- Purity and Weight: 1 kilo, 32.15 troy ounces, of 9999 fine silver
- Face Value: 30 Dollars, legal tender in Australia
- Obverse: Portrait of King Charles III with the country name and denomination
- Reverse: A koala perched on a eucalyptus branch, dated 2025
The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of King Charles III, facing left with his hair and collar struck in clean separated lines and the designer’s initials at the truncation. CHARLES III arcs along the upper left rim and AUSTRALIA along the upper right, with 30 DOLLARS running across the base between two raised dots. At kilo scale the portrait carries noticeably more modeling in the jaw and temple than the same effigy shows on a one-ounce coin.
The reverse gives the koala the full field. The animal clings to a eucalyptus branch with both forepaws, body turned toward the viewer and head lifted, its tufted ears struck with individually raised hair strands and its claws clearly resolved where they grip the wood. Eucalyptus leaves branch below and to the left, each with its central vein defined. KOALA runs in tall lettering across the top, 2025 1 KILO 9999 SILVER curves down the left rim, and the Perth Mint’s P mintmark sits in the right field.
Coins are struck to brilliant uncirculated standard by the Perth Mint and ship in a protective capsule, which matters at this size since a kilo coin is difficult to handle without contact.
Four-nines silver, an annual design, and the lowest premium the series offers. Order the 2025 Kilo Silver Koala today.
