The obverse is where the design investment shows most clearly. Solveig occupies the left portion of the field in confident three-quarter stance, her armor rendered with exceptional surface detail — layered pauldrons, articulated bracers, and a circular runic brooch at her chest. Her hair flows freely to the left, and she grips a battle axe whose head carries interlocking knotwork relief. The coin’s real compositional tension comes from the bears. A large grizzly fills the lower right foreground, its open mouth and bared teeth rendered with fine fur texture and genuine menace — head turned directly toward the viewer. In the background to the upper right, a second bear stands on a snow-covered rise beneath a full moon, howling skyward, flanked by frost-laden trees. The two animals frame Solveig without diminishing her — she faces forward, composed against the wilderness behind her.
