Germania Mint has built a devoted following with its mythologically rich coin programs, and the Valkyries series sits at the top of their design ambitions. Each release in the series focuses on a single Valkyrie — the shield-maidens of Norse mythology who chose the slain on battlefields and escorted warriors to Valhalla. Solveig is the 2024 entry, and the coin’s composition places her in a winter wilderness scene that leans fully into the elemental, untamed character of the subject. Worldwide mintage is limited to 25,000 pieces.

The obverse is where the design investment shows most clearly. Solveig occupies the left portion of the field in confident three-quarter stance, her armor rendered with exceptional surface detail — layered pauldrons, articulated bracers, and a circular runic brooch at her chest. Her hair flows freely to the left, and she grips a battle axe whose head carries interlocking knotwork relief. The coin’s real compositional tension comes from the bears. A large grizzly fills the lower right foreground, its open mouth and bared teeth rendered with fine fur texture and genuine menace — head turned directly toward the viewer. In the background to the upper right, a second bear stands on a snow-covered rise beneath a full moon, howling skyward, flanked by frost-laden trees. The two animals frame Solveig without diminishing her — she faces forward, composed against the wilderness behind her. The relief work throughout is deep and layered, with strong separation between the figure, the foreground bear, and the atmospheric background.
The reverse presents Germania Mint’s signature heraldic shield in a Norse-inflected treatment. A wood-plank texture covers the shield face, giving it a tactile, aged character. The bear head on the left mirrors the obverse’s animal theme while anchoring the reverse in Germanic heraldry. The double-headed eagle to the right is Germania Mint’s house emblem, struck with fine feather detail. A central riveted boss separates the two figures. The outer ring carries Celtic knotwork interspersed with Norse runic characters, tying the design language back to the series’ mythological roots throughout the coin’s full circumference.
Each coin ships individually capsulated and includes a Germania Mint Certificate of Authenticity — a booklet-format document confirming the coin’s specifications, mintage limit, and authorization. The COA bears the Germania Mint double-eagle seal and blue Celtic border consistent with the mint’s presentation standards.
With a mintage cap of 25,000 and one of the stronger individual designs in the Valkyries series, the Solveig issue is worth securing promptly. Add it to your cart today.

The pictures are misleading showing a somewhat 2 tone round in the shaded areas. The round is all just a uniform silver tone, not like what is pictured. Still like them. I should have picked up more. Quick shipping and no problem.
