The obverse presents a Native American chief in right-facing profile, his features drawn from Fraser’s composite study of several tribal leaders. Long hair falls in thick strands past his jaw, gathered and bound at the base with a wrapped braid, and two feathers angle back from the crown of his head. LIBERTY is stamped along the upper right rim, the date 2024 sits at the lower left, and the designer’s F initial appears just beneath it. The relief is deep, with the cheekbone, brow, and hair strands each rising well clear of the field.

The reverse shows an American bison standing in left-facing profile on a raised mound of ground. The animal’s shoulder hump and shaggy forequarters are heavily textured against the smoother hindquarters, with the head lowered and horns curving forward. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs across the top, E PLURIBUS UNUM sits in the upper right field, and IN GOD WE TRUST appears at the lower left near the bison’s forelegs. The base of the coin carries $50 above 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD.
