2023 Australian 1 oz Silver Kookaburra (BU in Capsule)

There is beautiful and then there is incredibly beautiful. The 2023 Australia 1oz Silver Kookaburra is most definitely the latter. This coin features a stunning design of two Kookaburra birds perched on branches. This is the most recent release by the Perth Mint in their long-running Kookaburra Coin Series. On the obverse of this coin is Jody Clark’s famous effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing her royal diadem and royal jewelry. The queen looks especially regal and poised in this profile portrait commissioned by the Royal Mint in 2015. Written in an arch above her head is ‘Elizabeth II’. On her right shoulder are the letters ‘JC’, Jody Clark’s initials. Below the queen’s portrait is written, ‘1 Dollar’ which is the legal tender face value backed by the Australian Government. 

 

The Reverse of the coin features the coin’s namesake, the Australian Kookaburra bird. This year’s design captures two birds perched on branches. One bird is a bit bigger than the other. Above the scene is written ‘2023 1oz. 9999 Silver’ and ‘Kookaburra’. To the right of the smaller bird’s tale is the letter ‘P’, the mark of the Perth Mint.
