The 2023 2 oz Tudor Beasts Yale of Beaufort Silver Coin is the latest release from the British Tudor Beasts series. This coin presents the Yale of Beaufort, a mythical creature with the body of a goat or antelope and horns that swivel. This image looks striking in .9999 fine silver.

The British Tudor Beasts series comes on the heels of the wildly popular Queen’s Beasts Series. The Queen’s Beasts focused on the heraldic beasts that were honored at the Queen’s coronation. This series focuses on the House of Tudor’s beasts only,

 

The obverse side of the coin has Jody Clark’s version of Queen Elizabeth II that was first introduced in 2015. Here she is shown at age 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. Around her head on the bottom, left are the initials D.G.REG F D which stands for the Latin phrase Dei Gratia Regina which translates to ‘By the Grace of God, Queen’. At the top left is ‘5  POUND’ which is the face value of the coin. To the left of the queen is ‘ELIZABETH II’. 

 

On the reverse side is the image of the Yale of Beaufort, here showing as a hulking beast with a goat -like body and huge ram’s horns. It is standing on its hind legs and is holding the Arms of Jane Seymour, the wife of King Henry VII. The yale is supposed to represent a strong defense. To the left of the image is ‘YALE OF BEAUFORT’. To the right is ‘2 oz FINE SILVER 999.9’. At the bottom is ‘2023’.
