On the obverse side of the 2023 1 oz American Gold Eagle coin, we see Liberty as designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This design first appeared in 1907 on the $20 Gold Eagle and ran until 1933. This version of Liberty shows her facing the viewer and looks to be walking toward them. She is carrying a torch in her right hand and has an olive branch in the other. At her feet, we see Washington D.C. while the sun is coming up behind her. Surrounding Liberty are 50 stars. Above her head is ‘LIBERTY’. At the bottom of the coin is ‘2023’.
The reverse side of the coin has Jenny Norris’ new eagle design first introduced in 2021. This design features the eagle facing to the left. With great detail, we see the fine feathers on its head that change to bigger feathers on its neck area. The eagle stares off with its characteristic intensity. Above the eagle’s head is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’. Just below this text in a smaller font is the Latin phrase ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ which means “From many, one.” Under this phrase is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’. At the bottom of the coin is ‘50 DOLLARS’ and ‘1 oz FINE GOLD’.
Back for 2023 is the 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin from the United States Mint. This is a great design that is very popular and made with quality metal by a trusted mint. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a Gold Eagle Coin.

This year I decided to buy one-ounce coins so I bought 10 American Gold Eagles, and 10 of the American Gold Buffalo Coins. I bought them as a hedge against the US Dollar since our (dementia) leader is weakening the dollar by the day. Though I bought these coins for their gold content, I gotta say the detail and craftsmanship is pretty sweet. Granted, the Buffalo’s eyes and smile makes him appear as if he’s about to pass out, so he might have been eating the wrong type of grass. 🙂
In all, for the gold content, or as a collector collecting this year’s coin you can’t go wrong.
I’m very happy with these and will be buying more, long as the US Dollar still has value.
