This design really jumps out and grabs your attention with what is sure to be a controversial take on Wall Street. The funny thing about controversy is that while some may be angered or even insulted by it, others will absolutely love it. One thing is for certain, it is definitely a conversation piece. On the obverse of this round, there is a clown on a unicycle under the big top. He is juggling grenades. To his right is a bear riding a bike while on his left is a bull playing with a ball. At his feet is a suitcase full of cash. At his feet are the words ‘WELCOME TO WALL STREET’ in a circus font. Above the bull are signs with ‘NAKED SHORTS’ and ‘DERIVATIVES’ on them. The bear also has signs with ‘PUMP ‘N’ DUMP’ and ‘SUBPRIME’. 

There is a lot going on with this design. One can’t help feeling that the design is saying that Wall Street is a circus that is volatile where it feels like you are juggling grenades. The bull and bear remind us that the market fluctuates between a bear market and a bull market. The terms ‘derivatives’ and ‘subprime’ are reminders that risky or even dubious strategies make Wall Street even more volatile while the terms ‘naked shorts’ and ‘pump ‘n’ dump’ remind us that some don’t even play by the rules and resort to illegal strategies.

The reverse is the same design as on the first two rounds in the series with an enlarged Eye of Providence or an all-seeing eye at the top of a pyramid which represents the idea that God sees all. Under the eye is the Roman numerals for 1776. Draped across the pyramid under the eye is a banner with ‘ANNUIT COEPTIS’ which is Latin for ‘favors our undertakings’. At the top of the round is ‘THE AWAKENING’. Wrapping around the bottom of the round is ‘YOU CAN’T WAKE A PERSON WHO IS PRETENDING TO BE ASLEEP’. At the base of the pyramid is ‘.9999 SILVER 2 TROY OZ 2022’.  

This side, which is on all the Awakening rounds in the series, seems to suggest the idea that America needs to wake up. The message ‘you can’t wake a person who is pretending to be asleep’ is a Navajo proverb that means you can’t get someone to wake up and take notice if they are already awake but choose to look the other way. The all-seeing eye suggests he sees everything and ‘favors our undertakings’ perhaps hints that God favors the United States as it was established in 1776. But for how long? What if America doesn’t wake up?
