Just like most mythology stories, the origin of Pegasus has a couple of different stories. One story is the Pegasus was created out of Perseus cutting the head off Medusa. Another story claims that Poseidon is the father of Pegasus. In every story, however, Pegasus is a majestic creature often depicted as a stunning white. Pegasus seems to be synonymous with purity. Purity is the theme in Jennie Norris’ depiction of Pegasus. Shown here in mid flight, the Pegasus here has its wings spread wide. A textured background and classic Greek pattern around the edge really make this feel like an ancient design. Under the image are Jennie Norris’ initials.
The reverse side has Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Raphael Maklouf in 1985. Here she is shown wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. To the left her image is ‘$1 ST. HELENA.’ This is the face value of the coin and is backed by the authority of St. Helena. Above the queen is ‘QUEEN ELIZABETH II’. Under the image is ‘ ONE OUNCE .999 SILVER’.
Although the origin of the Pegasus may be a mystery, there is nothing mysterious about why this is a beautiful coin. Take this wonderful design by Jennie Norris and add high quality silver and you have a stunning coin that would look good in any collection. Get yours today.
