This is a prime example of coins being a medium for art. The Germania Mint took their design for the first coin in the Valkyries series-Hildegard and made a high relief version in 2 oz of .9999 fine silver. The image, which was highly detailed to begin with, jumps off the coin in this breathtaking coin. Everything just pops more on this coin with the high relief and use of blue and pewter-like finish. With only 999 pieces available worldwide, these will be gone fast.

When a warrior dies in combat, their souls are escorted to Valhalla. At least that is what the followers of Norse Mythology believe. Some believe the escorts, the Valkyries, were actually Odin’s daughters. The Germania Mint introduces the Valkyries Collection to honor these warrior virgin princesses. The first in the series features Hildegard.
The obverse side has Hildegard in full battle gear. She is wearing body armor, holding a shield and a spear. She appears to be looking right at the viewer. At her side is a wolf. In the background is another wolf howling at the moon and stronghold seemingly made of hewn logs. This high-relief version gives the image a lot more depth and the detail really pops out. The fur on the wolf and on the cloak around Hildegard seem so much more real. At the top of the coin is ‘HILDEGARD’ written in a runic font.
On the reverse side is a shield. This looks like a wooden shield that has been banded with iron. On the bands are several runes around the coin. This high relief version gives the shield more depth and you can really differentiate between the wood and the iron. On the right side is a wolf howling and on the left is the Germania Mint’s logo. Written at the top is ‘Germania 2022 2 oz Ag 999.9’. At the bottom is ‘10 mark’.
You simply must get one of these coins before they are all gone. There are only 999 worldwide. Act now.
